Polls and Elections

Polls and Elections

Polls and Elections enable you to provide electronic voting to your Property Owners. Polls and Elections differ from Property Owner Motions in that they support arbitrary options, option minimums and maximums, voting windows, and vote confidentiality (Blind Voting).

Property Owners vote digitally via the Homeowner Portal. If you desire Board Member, Committee, or Management voting, consider Motions instead.

Creating a Poll or Election

Polls require you to specify the available options for voters to select from, the number of minimum options they can select (i.e. select 3 out of the 5 options) and the maximum number of options they can select (i.e. select at least 3 of the 5 options). Polls and Elections also support Blind Voting. Modifying options is not possible once a vote has been requested from a property owner.

Blind Voting

Blind voting prevents anyone besides the property owner from seeing how a vote was cast. Only the final tally will be visible. HOALife Dashboard Users will be able to see who did or did not cast a vote, but they will not be able to see what options were selected. The aggregate vote tallies will be displayed after the Poll has ended.

Requesting Votes

No one can vote on a motion until their vote has been requested. This allows you to target specific segments of your community. You can request votes from select Property Owners or everyone with a few clicks. Notifying the Property Owner about their need to vote requires you direct them to the homeowner portal via Bulk Email Conversations or other means. You should direct Property Owners to the Homeowner Portal to vote using our Homeowner Portal URL Dynamic Variable.

Property Owner Voting

Property Owners will be prompted to cast their vote from the Homeowner Portal. Once a vote has been cast, the vote cannot be changed, however, the property owner will be able to see their vote selections.

Tallying Votes

Once the Poll or Election's end date has passed it will automatically be finalized. HOALife Dashboard Users will be able to to see who did and who did not cast their vote. If Blind Voting was selected, no one will be able to see how the actual votes were cast, only a tally of the total votes.

A spreadsheet export is available to help reconcile paper ballots, should you accommodate them. The same Blind Voting privacy is applied to the export.
